The car travelled smoothly in a straight line. However, the wheels were not attached tightly enough to the axle and did not always turn along with the axle.

Wheels could be glued onto the axle.

Wheels would be more securely attached to the axle and would turn with the axle.

With more string wrapped around the axle, the axle would turn more times and the car would move further. A thicker string would not snap as easily either.

The tension in the string would have been larger and thus there would be more energy for the car to move.
